Keeping information only as needed
We normally keep enquiry records for up to 12 months after the last contact if no work follows.
We normally retain matter records for six years after work ends. A legal duty, dispute or professional obligation may require longer.
Analytics data is kept for no more than 14 months where the provider settings allow. Cookie expiry can vary.
We do not sell personal data. We may share relevant details with service providers, professional advisers or public authorities when needed to provide a service or meet a legal duty.
If a service provider processes data outside the UK, we use an adequacy arrangement or another recognised safeguard where required.
We usually respond within one month of receiving a complete request.
We use your name, contact details and message to reply and decide what next steps you have asked us to take.
We keep relevant correspondence and call notes so we can respond, follow up and keep an accurate record.
Basic usage data may include device, browser and pages visited. Non-essential analytics cookies are used only with consent where required.
We rely on legitimate interests to handle enquiries, contract steps to provide agreed work, and legal duties where they apply.
Information and purpose
Eglinton Barrister handles personal data for legal and financial consulting enquiries and services. Please share only what is needed to explain your enquiry. Avoid sending sensitive documents through an ordinary website message unless we ask for them.
Contact form submissions may include your name, email address, telephone number, organisation and the information you choose to include. We use this to answer you and, if requested, discuss possible work. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests, or steps taken at your request before a contract.
Phone and email enquiries can include your contact details, the subject of your enquiry and notes needed for follow-up. We use these details for enquiry handling and record keeping, based on legitimate interests or the steps needed to provide an agreed service.
If you become a client, we may hold contact, business and matter information needed to deliver the work, manage our relationship and meet legal or professional duties. The basis depends on the work and may be contract, legal obligation or legitimate interests.
Basic analytics may record pages viewed, approximate device and browser information, and online identifiers. Where consent is required, we ask before setting non-essential analytics cookies. You can change cookie choices through your browser settings at any time.
“We ask for the details needed to respond, keep them for a stated purpose, and explain how you can exercise your rights.”
